The qa-util-emailer.php is no longer available in the distribution and some plugins such as Q2A-Email-Notifications depend on it. What's the new method to send emails?

The qa_send_email(...) function was moved to qa-app-emails.php

Any suggestions on how to patch this bug in the plugin? The developer hasn't put notice that it's module is not compatible with 1.5.4, which is frustrating as hell.
