I'm wondering, are there any benefites to installing Q2A for Wordpress vs. just installing it as a stand alone  in sub-directory or sub-domain? If my Wordpress site is mainly for posting pages/posts with no intention of interaction among readers, is there any point to using the Wordpress install option for Q2A?

The main reason is so your Wordpress users don't need to register for a second account. If you don't have any Wordpress users then a standalone Q2A is probably the better option.
