Does somebody know how to modify the function qa_db_blob_create() in qa-db-blobs.php that way that it stores the original image under same blobid name with imageextension as well to a folder ? (Received from qa-wysiwig-upload.php line 110 )

If at least that is possible, one can get hands on that image through the id and use any tool to modify it.

That would help as long there is no complete plugin to store images in the filesystem or plugin for advanced image handling and as it still would be as well in the database there wouldnt be problems to upgrade once a plugin is available.

Well actually I would like to hear a solution to this issue as well, I also wanted to use timthumb once, but this fails because of the blob URLs.

I am not entirely confident that it will work correctly for everyone. I hesitate to have others use it and have it cause problems for them. Just thought I could help by giving a start as to how something could be developed.

I think that this is a great idea actually.

Basically, the user is incentivized to register when asking the question, because he only has to enter two extra fields: a username and a password.

If he enters those fields, the system should register him automatically as a new user.

Is this possible in any way?

Tags also does not work. So, is it right to assume that search module should be enabled if we need tags for classification

I noticed that a lot of questions get asked here by site owners how to add small bits of content to their site. The usual answer is to make an advanced theme, but that can be a bit much just to add a few modules here and there.

So I've made a new plugin that allows you to put any content anywhere (almost). You just click "add a new widget" then choose what position on the page it should go (e.g. header, sidebar, after the question text) and what pages it should be displayed on (e.g. question pages, recent questions, user pages etc). Then enter whatever HTML you want.

It is currently beta so try it and let me know how it goes! Note, there aren't many page positions right now but I will expand them. Let me know if there are some more positions that you want!

The best way to do so is making an advanced theme what is very easy, and then just copy this function from inlude/qa-theme-base.php into Your theme.

Second You modify this line

$this->q_view_content($q_view);

into

//$this->q_view_content($q_view);

The same method You can use to turn on or of other elements in that function.

The other method is:

open qa-styles.css

and change

qa-q-view-content{....}

into

qa-q-view-content{....diplay:none;}

But this may be just half of the answer because a user still can add a question description. To avoid that as well add this to Your advanced theme:

This function only shows multirow fields when not on ask page, so answering and commenting is still possible.

Please give it a try if You run for some reason into trouble post again.

EDIT: i think to make that second part working You must set minimum characters for question description in admin menu to 0 !!

I found a better solution and submitted a new answer. This is a perfect example of why it would be nice to have permalinks because I would be able to reference directly the new answer that I submitted.

what does Setup, Control, View and Theme indicate in debug mode.

In my installation 67% of the time is in setup. Also performance marginally increased when I deleted plugins including WYSIWIG editor. Some of the modules that are not being used were commented in qa-base.php

in theme folder, you have qa-styles.css

you will need to add/modify the code

body {direction: rtl; background:#cfd1c4; margin:0; padding:0; text-align:center;}

then if you have still imporper display.

you need to replace all right with left, and vise versa.

You can actually install it now and it will start saving post edits. I have made more progress that isn't public yet (adding pages to display the edits) so it shouldn't be too long before it's ready!

In particular, I have anonymous questions/answers sitting there waiting for a moderator to CHECK to see if something is pending.

Yes, that is a very good idea. It looks very well and with many subcategories a user can see much better if the question has to do with his interest ! ( Just want to mention that when hoovering about it actually it says talcsec.com//Activity with double-slash ).

Answered: I did re indexing in admin section and after that google showing my 284 page not found 404 error.

If you did anything that changed the page urls, Google might drop the old pages when it got 404s, and it would take some time for the new urls to get indexed.

This is just a guess of course.

Even though I appear to be blocking an IP, they still are posting "comments". This IP address appears in the email sent to me when comment is posted. Maybe it's fake?

Is there any way to escape square brackets when using the Syntax Highlighting plugin?

With the Syntax Highlight plugin in use, I cannot add text like [code] to my questions, answers or content because it will be interpreted by the plugin and converted. It seems a silly request but since I installed the plugin, I wanted to give the users reading about the plugin on the site a simple example of using it to format their code and it keeps getting interpreted by the plugin, making it impossible.
