Modifying qa_db_blob_create() ?

Does somebody know how to modify the function qa_db_blob_create() in qa-db-blobs.php that way that it stores the original image under same blobid name with imageextension as well to a folder ? (Received from qa-wysiwig-upload.php line 110 )

If at least that is possible, one can get hands on that image through the id and use any tool to modify it.

That would help as long there is no complete plugin to store images in the filesystem or plugin for advanced image handling and as it still would be as well in the database there wouldnt be problems to upgrade once a plugin is available.

I am still trying to get thumbnails or resized images to avoid very slow loadingtimes for firt time visitors of my pages.

Timthumb, phpthumb, slir all do a good job but not with blobimages as source !

Any hint is welcome.

By commenting out qa_register_module('search', 'qa-search-basic.php', 'qa_search_basic',

Tags also does not work. So, is it right to assume that search module should be enabled if we need tags for classification

I noticed that a lot of questions get asked here by site owners how to add small bits of content to their site. The usual answer is to make an advanced theme, but that can be a bit much just to add a few modules here and there.

So I've made a new plugin that allows you to put any content anywhere (almost). You just click "add a new widget" then choose what position on the page it should go (e.g. header, sidebar, after the question text) and what pages it should be displayed on (e.g. question pages, recent questions, user pages etc). Then enter whatever HTML you want.

It is currently beta so try it and let me know how it goes! Note, there aren't many page positions right now but I will expand them. Let me know if there are some more positions that you want!

Debug Mode - Setup, Control, View and Theme

what does Setup, Control, View and Theme indicate in debug mode.

In my installation 67% of the time is in setup. Also performance marginally increased when I deleted plugins including WYSIWIG editor. Some of the modules that are not being used were commented in qa-base.php

Is there a way to be notified when events related to new questions, comments, edits?

In particular, I have anonymous questions/answers sitting there waiting for a moderator to CHECK to see if something is pending.

I have created basic breadcrums for the q-list items. Next step will be to add breadcrums to the top of each list page for navigation.

If there is interest in this I could create a plug-in for it.

Move "Ask Box" widget to just above the main nav?

I am able to move the Ask Box widget to a few spots, but I would really like it just above the main navigation tabs.

I am not a strong backend programmer but I'm no stranger to modifying php.

Any ideas on this?

Even though I appear to be blocking an IP, they still are posting "comments". This IP address appears in the email sent to me when comment is posted. Maybe it's fake?

With the Syntax Highlight plugin in use, I cannot add text like [code] to my questions, answers or content because it will be interpreted by the plugin and converted. It seems a silly request but since I installed the plugin, I wanted to give the users reading about the plugin on the site a simple example of using it to format their code and it keeps getting interpreted by the plugin, making it impossible.

Is there any way to view the edits on a question or answer?

Using output buffering to modify the output

Hi,

I want to make some custom changes to part of the output. Will be too complicated to do it by a plugin because there are many changes and as well, I need to directly overwrite some of the functions which can't be overwrited by a plugin.

My idea is to overwrite the output by using ob_start and ob_end_flush.

I see some occurences of ob_start in 1.5.2 code as well. Should be any interference if I add my own ob_start and ob_end_flush on index.php?

Is the markdown editor safe, the reason I am asking is because youtube plugin which uses embed tag works. As far as I know HTMLlawed strips all such function.

Its again about real imageresizing while using ckeditor and storing the images in the filesystem instead of database (if necessary).

The approach is having large images resized to lets say 100k/200k max and presetting an image width (proportional). And/or having thumbnails stored somewhere to use them instead of the blobs.

Several approaches have been discussed, like timthumb, plupload and css resizing but there is no solution which makes pageloading with big images fast enough to avoid users run away.

As I cant go on with my work and understand that You are limited in Your time for special features I feel the need to ask You if You can at least recommend a paid developer who can resolve that issue, not exclusively for my needs, but for everyone here.

Depending on the quote I´ll pay it or at least a good part of it.

Why my many links in www.dpmain.com/questions/....... got deleted ?

but questions are already there. only links with www.domain.com/questions are being deleted automatically while reindexing. Please help ...do i need to worry about this? 284 pages are showing not found error.
