I’m working on a new modern Q2A theme and I’ve already added some cool stuff — like live search by default .

I want to make it even more useful, so I’d really appreciate your feedback. What kind of features would you like to see in this theme? Any ideas or suggestions are more than welcome

Once it’s fully developed, I’ll make the theme available for everyone.

Recently @pupi1985 replaced the favorite button image with a fontello icon as seen in the latest version. I was just wondering if the same could be done to the vote buttons? If you've got a fix, please share any changes to qa-styles.css and qa-theme.php. Thanks in advance!

Many other buttons have this issue which leads to inconsistencies, but the vote icons are by far the worst offender due to their prominence IMO, so the other changes are less urgent for me. But generally, it's harder to customize things unless you have the skill set to design new buttons lol.

A sneaky one that you may not see is notices, the search box, and the mobile search box.

Short answer

I've created a pull request with a fix for Ami's branch:

Long answer

When I was pushing updates to the OSN plugin, I failed to realize that nav_user_search() was not a CORE extended function, but a SnowFlat theme defined one instead.

So there's many places in themes, and plugins where I updated code to point to that function. But since this wasn't a CORE defined function, the changes failed to automatically fold into place, for this case.

When I was creating the pull request above, I pondered about reverting back to the way the Bell was being outputted, using doctype() , but even though that worked in most of my themes without changing any code, it did not work for SnowFlat theme. Which is the most important theme, since it's the default Q2A theme and many custom themes have branched from it.
I also didn't want to use Javascript to manipulate its output location, after rendered.

The Solution

So the wiser solution was to create an empty nav_user_search() function for the Donut theme, and append its output next to the User Navigation Avatar, since most of the themes (derived from SnowFlat) already have this function.

I could have created a pull request to the CORE with this function, so this issue would solve itself for other theme developers, but I believe this will be the faster solution for now.

You cannot buy a Q2A license. All derivatives of Q2A, such as plugins and themes have to be GPL.

Ahh, I see what's going on.
The Voting and Reply/Share buttons are grouped together, so when the Voting buttons are not available, the Reply/Share buttons aren't either.

I'll patch that up in a bit.
