I am testing plugin compatibility. I installed Akismet plugin (V2B3) in Q2A V1.6.3. Install is OK. But can't confirm that spam protected... I input "viagra-test-123" into title and description on question form. And I investigated is_spam() function in akismet.class.php. But, return value is always 'false' (Not spam / safe). My environment is localhost. Does this obstruct movement of akismet?

Does this plugin work definitely in your site?

Please my whole website down because of this

HI I am using q2a for a long time now , but recently Akismet plug in has stopped working,

I updated it to q2a 1.6 version but still no success,

So I just disabled posting on my website Kindly help me get this issue resolved

Spam that isn't being picked up by Akismet plugin

Hi guys,

I've had a recent spam attack that seems to not be getting picked up by Akismet.

It's all not in English, so I'm wondering if there's an easy way to pick this kind of spam up.

Here's an example of the subject:

"za sprawą szkołę przez bezpieczny kredyt zważywszy na wszelkie"

I've also blocked the IP address but it appears that they have a range of IP Addresses.

Thoughts?

I've installed Q2A-Akismet-Plugin-v2b3, on q2a 1.6.2.

I've done some tests to better understand its behaviour.

I've used some typical spam comments intercepted by akismets ( see here : http://allyouneedislists.com/technology/10-awesome-spam-comments-intercepted-by-akismet )

Akismet detects these comments as spam when I use them inside comments or inside answers.

If I use them inside questions they are not detected as spam.

I do not want to discuss about Akismet's algorithms, but I've not been able to see *1* question been intercepted and moderated by the plugin.

Any suggestions ?

I've installed Q2A-Akismet-Plugin-v2b3, on q2a 1.6.2.

From my tests the option :

" Moderate questions/answers/comments that contain links when the user has less than X points"

works only when a link is inserted in the post (ask question form) using the CKEditor link button.

If the link is inserted directly (plain text) in the post (ask question form), without using the link button, the post is not moderated and a new question is published with a clickable link.

Do you have the same behaviour ?

Since Q2A 1.6 is fast approaching, I’ve updated my plugin to fully support the new version. While I was at it, I went ahead and added a new “Moderate questions, answers and comments that contain links” option. When enabled, this will further protect your Q2A site from spammers. Creating a Akismet plugin - how to move post to moderation section?

I'm creating my own Akismet plugin and I can't quite figure out how to move the post to the moderate section - if the content was detected as spam.

I've looked through the Q2A include files but nothing is jumping out at me.

Could someone post a code snippet how Q2A does it if moderation is enabled?

I'm making an antispam plug-in using Akismet API. Please review and give feedback.

Overview
I'm developing an antispam event handler that checks questions, answers and comments for spam by submitting them to Akismet's API. Akismet was created by the same people who make Wordpress and it keeps their comments pretty clean.

Logic
When a comment is posted or edited, an event will trigger and send the information to Akismet. If it comes back as clean, nothing is done. If it comes back as spam, the message will be flagged as spam and marked hidden.

Each comment will have a spam button to give admins the ability to mark anything that wasn't flagged by Akismet as spam.

There'll be a page listing all messages that've been marked as spam so you can review them and unmark a message as spam if needed.

Database
I'm trying to figure out a good way to mark a message as spam without adding a field or table. The only way I can come up with is to increase the flag count by a set number. For example, when something is marked as spam by Akismet, I can incrase the flag count by 20. Then, in the page that shows the spam, I show all messages that have a flag count of over 20.

Otherwise, I can just add a table and add the postid of spam messages.

Other thoughts
I'm not sure how well this will work regarding anonymous users.
I'll need someone to test this with an external user plug-in since I'm personally using the integrated accounts.
Are there any considerations I should take into account with 1.5?
Any other features and suggestions?
