Why is there no ID column with qa_eventlog?

With some plugins I need to delete certain events from table qa_eventlog.

However, since there is no "id" column, I cannot safely delete the events.

What was the design (performance?) decision not to add IDs to the eventlog table?

And would it be safe to add the ID column?

Is it safe to delete all eventlog directly from database?

My qa_eventlog table size is 1 gb. Do I have a problem if I empty the table?

Why is there a "userid" and a redundant "handle" field in table qa_eventlog?

I just realized that we do not need the handle in qa_eventlog.

Especially when the handle (username) is changed be the user, all those saved handles are wrong!

Can somebody elaborate why this is done?

PS: I checked if there is any case where we have userid==NULL and handle NOT NULL, there is none in my production forum.
