Move the Bookmark/Favorite icon

How can a user be notified of a new tag?

A user of my website has asked this question. As users could be interested in following new (future) tags, how can they be notified of any new tags being added to the database?

Even if there is no notification, how can they determine which new tags have been added since they last checked?

Even if such a feature is not available to users, is something available to admins?

I modified the star.png file \qa-theme\SnowFlat\images folder to change favorite icon. but nothing hapened. The add to favorites icon is still same.

any idea how to change it?

I found that it works on Internet explorer but not in chrome...

Adding a custom button to add a user to favorites

I am trying to develop a plugin. The aim is to create a best user list which the active user could add a user to its favorites by clicking to the star icon next to user name.

However, I could not add the classic star icon by using qa_favorite_form() function. What I get only is a "Array text" on the page.

Does anyone have an ideo to fix it?

Getting the favorite button out of the H1 on the user profile page

I am redesigning (structure) the user page and got stuck because the Favorite Form contains the H1 and the input field for the favorite action.

This makes it very difficult to move the form or even moving the input field to another position does not work, since it is not in the form anymore.

My advice: Have the H1 standing alone (!) and the favorite form behind.

PS: And no, I cannot override function page_title_error() because I am using this function in many other plugins. And in this function we have:

            $this->output('<h1>');
           $this->favorite();
           $this->title();
           $this->output('</h1>');

Which causes the issue.

Update: Furthermore I cannot "touch" the *text* of h1 separately. The CSS always effects all elements within the H1.

I think it should be in qa-theme-base.php:

            $this->output('<h1>');
           $this->title();
           $this->output('</h1>');
           $this->favorite();

With an enclosing DIV around these elements.

I changed the "Favorite System" to have five stars for users. My problem is that i can't find the function that saves data to qa_userfavorites. My qa_userfavorites table has one more column star_num. I see that on submit qa_favorite_click() is called. In this function i have var star_num=elem.value;

How do i store star_num value in database together with enitytype, entityid...?

Is there a way to attach 1 or 2 tags automatically if the user didn't write any?

I can't seem to spot the file or function that decides which tags to add the favorite "qa-tag-link qa-tag-favorited" classes. I want to add another icon in addition to the start to some of the tags.

I know the star is added via css - I just need to know how and where the html is formed.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think "Favorite" feature has not been used so much. Since question is very much, it would be less to be added in favorite. However, favorite user, category and tag should be used more. User adds favorite item to own collection only in the target page of the data (Question page, User profile, Question list in category, Question list with tag). I thought, since user interface is not good, it might not be used so much.

My thoughts

I want to develop new addon (Favorite Collector) for adding favorite item from any place in any page with "Drag and Drop".

I have many favorite subject and it is a very long page. Whether it can be split by 40-50 questions per page watchlist. Or split selected questions by category to I could easily find a favorite subject.

Currently, v1.6.2 the favorite-unfavorite button is within the h1 element which is incorrect. It should be outside of the h1 element.

CSS Only favorite buttons

I am trying to replace the add favorite button with CSS-ONLY buttons, so instead of the star image

having a FAVORITE and UNFAVORITE buttons, when the button is clicked his value changes to unfavorite, then changed back to favorite if clicked again ( like twitter follow btn)

so instead of the star i added a "favorite" value to the input box and kept the icon on the left, and it looks nice ( the green button)

now when i click on favorite , the button value don't change. fair enough, i need to add some javascript.

i noticed that favoriting button class changes to "qa-unfavorite-button" if we favorite the question, so i though this script will make it ,

i added it to qa_favorite_click function to page.js file and nothing Happend :( , i tried various variation but in vain

I have set a custom favorite button for not logged in users.

This link redirects to the register form.

After registering, the user will be redirected correctly to the entry page.

Now, getting back to that page, the favorite action should be activated,

so user does not have to click a second time the now normal fav button.

Any idea ?

I am using two favorite buttons, one at the top and one at the end of question by adding a second time

Both buttons work, but the second one does not refresh when clicked.

What could be the reason ? Both buttons still have the same name and so on..
