How does check user permission for flag a post?

Hi there,

In the answer sections, there are icons that indicates "edit", "hide", "flag", etc.

Users are more comfortable with text than logo. In some cases, they want to edit, but they can't find the edit button, as it is a logo instead of text. However, if texts are used, they are able to find the edit button more easily.

This is just a suggestion. Q2A is awesome. You guys rock :-)

Feature Request: Reason for FLAG

I don't know why this is not implemented till now but this is very important for any post to be flagged. Even if we close a question then also there is a reason for that, but if a user is flagging a question, answer or comment then he is not giving any reason. The author of the content should know the reason for that flag. This way he can actually improve the content and community can be improved.

This also happens in Stackoverflow and should also be in Q2A as Flagging is an important feature.\

Maybe someone needs this...

If you cannot clear the flags using >admin >flagged you still have the option to use the database:

table qa_uservotes

sort by "flag"

All entries with flag == 1 are post flags. Delete them or clear them, or whatever ;)

How does the user flag 256 is set?

1) What does it mean flag=257?

Is it 1+256 (EMAIL_CONFIRMED + NO_WALL_POSTS)?

2) It seems that the usual way (maybe the only way) to get the 256 flag is when the user ticks the checkbox "wall" in his/her account. Is there another way for this? This is really puzzling me, since I have a plugin to unset this check box and it is working (I am not able to see this check box in the account page). See by yourself (please)

Just to be clear, I did this because I have another part of this plugin that overrides the function

So I have no idea how some users arise with the 257 flag!?

Can we add "who flagged" data to /admin/flagged ?

I have written my own plugin (not released) just to see the users who flagged, as well as the posts they flagged.

This is not a fancy thing to do, so I would like to see this in core under /admin/flagged

Basically, the query looks like this:

           $queryRecentFlags = qa_db_query_sub("SELECT postid,userid,flag
                                           FROM `^uservotes`
                                           WHERE `flag` = 1
                                           ORDER BY userid DESC);

This will contain all the necessary data...

In case you might ask, why this is necessary: From the member that flagged a post as Spam I can see (by time of membership and if I know the name etc.) if the spam flag is serious or just a kid...

@gidgreen: Implementation into core should be done fast.

Report user wall comments

This could be a little improvement on the spam system:

1. change qa_posts.flagcount (tinyint) to (varchar(100) ) ... → or add another field "flaggedby"

2. that enables us to save the id of the user/s who flagged, we can also show the user/s frontend (requested here and here)

3. of course, core functions have to be changed accordingly.

Alternative: We write a plugin that catches the "flag" and writes it into a separate table (which is created by the plugin).

I give +1 for core ;)

In Admin >Spam >Automatically hide posts which reach: 5 flags I tried to set 1, however, it always sets 2 as default?

In qa-page-admin-default.php I changed line 239 to:

'flagging_hide_after' => 1,

@gidgreen: Why default 2? And does changing the minimum to 1 has any consequences to q2a software?

I was able to get blocked users from the database. To make it more efficient I need to understand the flag system better. Once Gidgreen explained it a bit to me.

I try to find the blocked users by the flag which would be "2". How to see if a "2" is contained in the flag number. E.g. "3" is email confirmed (1) + user blocked (2)?

Just got my first flag but would like to see who flagged it.

Can I just add a handle to qa-lang-emails.php at:

'flagged_body' => "A post by ^p_handle has received ^flags:\n\n^open^p_context^close\n\nClick below to see the post:\n\n^url\n\nThank you,\n\n^site_title",

^a_handle, ^f_handle, ... ?

And is there maybe another way to see the flagger?

Here's a plugin that provides flags in post_meta; only works for non-WP-integrated installs or WP-installs with Buddypress plugin:
