How to save avatar images in original and good quality?

Hello!

I've noticed that Q2A compresses custom avatar images when I upload them, and also makes them low quality.

How can I disable this process and keep the images in original and good quality?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm asking because the current Q2A setup, which stores images as blobs in the database, creates too much load on the database in case the website traffic is high. If we change the image URL to direct image links by storing the images in AWS S3 storage, there will be a significant performance improvement on the Q2A site.

Can we create a plugin or make changes to the Q2A core to modify the image URLs and store images on S3 rather than in the database as blobs?

Different avatar Blob size images won't load consistently on HTTP protocol

I know that most websites use HTTPS protocols nowadays, but I've encountered the following bug.

I've noticed that different Avatar Blob sizes won't load consistently to everybody on HTTP protocol.
The weird thing is that for example, a image with "&qa_size=52" might load fine for me on this device, but if I change browsers or change to a different device, that same image won't load, but others will, and vice-versa.

No webpage was found for the web address: http://mywebsite.com/?qa=image&qa_blobid=8419242312434086559&qa_size=52

HTTP ERROR 404

This problem doesn't seem to occur locally on Localhost.
Also, "&qa_size=100" is the only size that seems to be working consistently for everybody.
Caching is also disabled.
On HTTPS seems to be working fine, as if we open my avatar here for example, and give it a random size, this problem doesn't happen.
But if you open this avatar here, and give it a random size (52 for example), it throws out a 404 page.
Tried with different themes and the result is the same.

If I copy paste an image in the editor and save, I get an error saying 'Maximum length is 12000 characters'. The image appears fined after it is pasted. Only when I save the question or answer I get that error. Also, the image is now converted into a long text. If I select a small image, then there is no error, but the image does not appear in the question/answer.

I've enabled image upload in the WYSIWYG editor. But when I select image and click 'send it to server', I don't see any activity after that. On the server I do see a 'POST /wysiwyg-editor-upload?qa_only_image....' request for which got a 200 response. On the browser there is no progress. I can't use the editor any further as OK says 'Image source URL is missing' and Cancel does not do anything.

I see a lot of questions here with images in them. How was that done? Copy paste of an image seems very intuitive.

Now I have images uploading to /uploads/ folder, however they appear as "site.com/?qa=blob&qa_blobid=13019917924243152525" in src of the image (I suppose linking to actual files).

And all images are shrinked to 600 px width after upload.

What I would like to see:

I don't want images to change their file names.
I want them to appear in src as they should, for example src="site.com/uploads/my_image.jpg"
I want to enlarge minimum width to at least 800 px (maybe this should be changed in ckeditor cfg, but how?).

How do I achieve this?

Every image uploaded via the Sceditor editor will have an alt text as "Image". This is not SEO-friendly.

The chance that someone finds your site through Google Image Search is maybe zero.

The chance that the image is included beside text content on Google normal search result pages is maybe also low.

The tip here is to use the file name as alt text. For example, your filename is alibaba-and-forty-milfs.jpg, then the alt text will be "alibaba-and-forty-milfs". Still better than the boring "Image".

Or a better trick :

$alttext = str_replace("-", " ",pathinfo($filename, PATHINFO_FILENAME));

And down under,

Image not showing after uploaded

After an image was uploaded, it wasn't showing in the question. Checking img src found a backslash was added to the src. I tried removing that backslash from developer tool, image showed up. My question is where the backslash is coming from and how I can remove it?

Hello, in my university I'm in charge of a server and a teacher want to use q2a.

I like to use Docker to simplify some tasks so I just create a docker image with q2a webapp and I wonder if you can give me some feedback about it, also I want to share it via github and make a pull request.
