Slow sending mail with SMTP

When I make the SMTP settings from the admin panel, it keeps waiting (~ 3 seconds) while adding answers to the questions. If I turn off SMPT and use the local e-mail settings, questions will be answered immediately.

I have installed Q2A in a local VM machine.I am using Centos.I haven't done any additional configuration for email.

I have tried sending without SMTP settings and also tried by configuring SMTP settings in UI.I haven't made any changes/configurations in the machine for sending mail.

I am getting "An error occured trying to send a mail".

Can anyone help me on how to configure SMTP mail in Q2A?I am very new to this.I searched online,couldn't find any help to configure the mail.

Just saw that the emails sent by my website are shown in GMAIL as non-encrypted.

Now I am wondering how to get this done by PHPMailer - without using SMTP.

Or is SMTP the only way? (I tried once to set it up, but somehow failed.)

My Q2A site emails are blocked as spam

For about 2 weeks my site and email system was working flauesly. Suddenly even me (the super admin) cannot receive any emails, they are sent to spam box.

I checked and the IP address of my server is spam-blocked (don't know when this happened). Even if I clear it, I know it may happen again in the future, as this is a shared hosting account.

Will it help to setup the SMTP with a GMAIL account? Will it work around this problem?

Hello there,

I'm using q2a for more than I year now, and I love it. Thank you for such a great product.

My problem is about the SMTP email section of the Admin panel. The problem is that I cannot change the username and password fields. I rewrite the username & password, but when I click save, they revert back to previous ones.

What could be the problem?

Because of that problem, I cannot send emails to my users about anything. Please help me.

i config all the inputs in the email tab (i try several SMTP configuration, include my gmail SMTP), and i get this error when is sent email:

i try to see here in the fourm and find some answer but didnt find any.

I don't know how you do it, but sometimes I comment on a question and get 10 follow-up emails (comments from others), that I do not want.

In other words, I forgot to uncheck "E-mail me if a comment is added after mine."

How I do it for a while already: I find my comment, click on edit, uncheck the e-mail notification.

Would it not be more userfriendly to add a tiny URL in the end of the notification email to let the user unsubscribe per click?

Case

Someone posting a questions. (send mail to Admin )
comment ( send mail owner )
select answer ( send mail answerer)
etc

I tested both use default php mail() function and smtp with gmail server. Both is too slow.
default php mail() function delay almost 7~10sec. smtp with gmail, too

if unselected notification, all is fast

So I think, to solve this problem AJAX send mail is needed.

As you see, using mass mailing brought up some issues.

One left is dead returning emails.

I would like to unsubscribe these users manually but could not find any mass mail option in the user profile page, nor in the qa_users database?

any help appreciated. Where is the unsupscription saved in the database?
