Suppose, I have two Q2A website. I has 10k question and answer and other has 7k question and answer. I want to merge second site with first one.

Can you please tell me :

is it possible? If yes
then how to merge both site safely?

Dear friends,

I guess its very important from server perspective to combine js files into ONE.js file and move header inline scripts to this ONE.js.

Currently, I point CDN path for qa-content/jquery-1.11.3.min.js file. So, I dont need to deal with this anymore. However, I have only two js files in home-page: qa-page.js and snow-core.js (just ignore other pages). Can I just copy paste all codes from qa-page.js into snow-core.js (I will use only snowflat theme). And where to remove call for qa-page.js?

More importantly, I have two inline scripts in head and one inline script in body. Two scripts in head are: (<script>var eventnotifyAjaxURL = "./eventnotify"</script>) and (<script>var qa_root = '.\/'; var qa_request = 'hot';</script>)

This eventnotify comes from On-Site Notification plugin. Code is like this:

One inline script in body is:

My question is how to move all these inline scripts both in head and body into snow-core.js ? Is it possible? Will the site work properly? Please guide how to do it.

I have a site with two subdomains and q2a installed on each one. Since of those subdomains never take off completely, I would like to fetch those questions and users and put it into the other site.

The users and categories are all different between sites.

Is this possible?

Thought it is worth pointing out that typewriter CMS has an option to merge / compact all JS files into one, same for CSS: http://www.typesettercms.com/

I noted that the table qa_content_words is not modified when I merge one question with another. See my example... I merged questions 1186 and 1189 (I mean 1186 => 1189), i. e., the answers of question 1186 became the answers of question 1189.

This part of the table is:

postid	wordid	count	type	questionid

qa_postmeta is

meta_id	post_id	meta_key	meta_value

I ask:

1) "questionid" of the first two lines should be 1189 now? If YES, there is any implication of this?

2) There is also a reference to question 1186 in qa_userevents

Merge questions Plugin: Why is it suggesting that there is a error?

I am testing in the localhost this plugin

It seems to be working very well and every time that I use it, (in the admin/plugin) I receive a message (in green) "Posts merged" and another message (in red) "Error merging posts".

What must be happening?

1) I checked the source question and it seems to be working well

2) I checked the url of the question "from" and it redirects successfully to the "to" question.

What can be going wrong?

How would one do this? So one user's questions and answers and comments would be added to an other user's list.

This week it happened... someone posted a question twice, nobody deleted the duplicate, and the conversation got split into two. Time for a question merging plugin!

So, what needs to be done? Obviously, all answers and comments have to be moved, that's easy.

Votes have to be merged, tags have to be merged(?), views have to be merged... what else? What if the question's content is a bit different? I guess an optional content merge is a good idea too...

What it does:

- moves comments and answers from one question to another, then deletes the first question
- includes an ajax preview call to show which posts are affected
- stores redirect info for deleted questions in postmeta

It's alpha code, for sure; needs more testing, but seems to work as expected, afaics.

i want to have a page in wordpress inside i will embed somehow the q&a platform. can i equire a php file to do this? or should i use a specific function?

i don't want to integrate the user DB. only to show the platform in a wordpress page.

Strategy for updating Q2A

I've made various changes to the Q2A core (lots of small things really). I was just looking at upgrading to 1.0.1 (though I'll probably wait for 1.1 now) and was wondering...is there a good strategy for updating so that I don't lose my changes?

Obviously the Q2A has changes, and my code has changes, so a simple comparison probably won't work. Maybe I should keep notes of everything I change...
