How to add a language indication in url with ip of the user ..

I mean that if the user is from France then the site's base URL will be like https://site.com/fr/

and like that with different countries .. and we can change the language accordingly.

I only want to change the language of the main navs and all the other things there .. but not the content posted

I use some specific tags (with language name) for posting questions on this langauage .So I dont want to see this questions (which includes that tags) show on main website pages.Actually dont want to see on another pages or categories too if it is possible.Only want to see posts when I visit that tag.

Do you plan to make the script multilingual in the future?

Our main site has several languages, but q2a can only use one main language without additional installations. Please make the script multilingual so that one installation can be used in different languages. That would be amazing. On one installation, the script can be used from different countries, speaking different languages, it should be very convenient for everyone. Will you do this in future updates?

The fact is that these fields are the same for all related multiple sites Q2A, with the same users.

I add a field on one site, it is added to others. But in the same language, how do I change the language on all sites?

I am curious if anyone has done this before. I want to have two languages on my q2a website. The primary language of my site is Russian, but I am seeking for an option to automatically translate text to English if the visitor's user-agent indicates English.

To be more clear, here is a simple example:

User's user-agent shows Russian - the website will be on Russian
If the user's user-agent shows English - the website will be on English

Any ideas on how to implement this? Additionally, did anyone connect the q2a website to Google Translate to get an instant translation?

Multilingual q2a forum - Best practice?

I am considering a project, where each user group of a certain language gets their "own forum", meaning interface in their language, all posts/content in their language, so their own ecosystem.

I would like to use subdomains, e.g.

de.myforum.com
en.myforum.com
ru.myforum.com

Now I think, maybe it is a nice idea to have a common userbase (qa_users, using external users). Or if I should "merge" parts of the forums together (e.g. theme file). Or just keep them all separate...

Now I am wondering if anyone of you has already developed such a project.

Which best practices should we follow? What are issues to face?

Localization and Plurals in Q2A!

The english language is very simple when it comes to plurals.

You have 0 elephants, 1 elephant, or 2+ elephants. So basically you have 2 different forms: one singular and one plural.

But for some other languages this is quite more difficult. Let's take the Bosnian language as another example:

You have [1/21/31] slon, [2/3/4] slona, [0/5/6] slonova and [7/8/9/11] ... and some more difficult rules.

The problem with the old system of plurals was, that you would have needed to specify them all, and get a loop in there.

In some languages the number separator is a dot instead of a comma, which means 17,000 is actually written as 17.000.

I have multiple Q2A sites with different languages, the user_db is the same for all, the label name gets translated in the various languages, I added the custom filed nationality and tried to figure out how the standard labels get their value out of the language file...

but somewhere down the line I got too confused tracing the code, in th db its pretty simple, i set the content to null and hoped Q2A would automatically pick up my added label in the langauge files...

In japanese, there are no space between words, so this search engline can't pick up any words and but only words in tags.

I found the following Q&A

Q2A converts text into words (for searching) based on separating out words by word delimiters, like spaces (obviously), commas, quote marks, etc...

You can see the full set used at the top of qa-util-string.php, in the constant QA_PREG_INDEX_WORD_SEPARATOR and also in the mapping $qa_utf8punctuation which converts UTF-8 punctuation characters.

In the case of Chinese and similar languages, there are no word delimiters per se, but rather each multibyte (UTF-8) character is essentially a separate word.

I don't know what exactly how I do that. It wound very much appreciate if someone write me a code and tell me where I put it on which file.

This will work fine, except if your database starts containing a large amount of content, in which case it could become quite slow.
