Why is there no notification settings for users?

In most systems, users have a settings section to control what to be sent to their mails.

Q2A is the only exception, I know, that does not have this.

And this is the only CMS in the world as far as I know that requires a tick mark to send notifications when asking, answering, commenting.

It was planned for 1.7 and then 1.8 and now for 1.9. We are waiting for it about several years!

Hi there,

How category id or category name of a question can be added to the email that is sent to admin once a question is asked?

In the "qa-lang-emails.php", there is following code that needs to be changed, though I don't know what to change here and any other section.

Hi,

I would like to have some configuration settings in files, so that I can deploy a new q2a page with my default configuration settings, without having to go to the admin panel and manually configure them. Is there a solution available for this already, which I have missed?

If not, I suppose I have to write some code which reads my configuration files, and then modifies the database with the configuration settings? Maybe as a plugin?

If this sounds like the way to go, I would really appreciate some start-up help! A few pointers, an example, that sort of thing.

Smtp setting for email doesn't restore

In my q2a site I changed the smtp mail setting, unfortunately i typed the server name stmp instead of smtp. After that i couldn't able to change the setting. I tried it many times to chsnge, after saving the option its again comes to stmp which is the mistaken one. Some one help me.

Cannot change SMTP settings username & password boxes

Hello there,

I'm using q2a for more than I year now, and I love it. Thank you for such a great product.

My problem is about the SMTP email section of the Admin panel. The problem is that I cannot change the username and password fields. I rewrite the username & password, but when I click save, they revert back to previous ones.

What could be the problem?

Because of that problem, I cannot send emails to my users about anything. Please help me.

I know that sama55 is developing a email notification plugin. Today by chance I tried askbot.org, they have these email options that could be adopted (should be easier...):

What are you using? ... maybe there is no best, but there is experience ;)
