Hello, for a curriculum project of mine, I am using Q2A. I am trying to do the share in linkedIn feature. Basically if there is a badge(in this case, any question that is answered) or kind of achievement, I want to share it on linkedin. Are there any plugins for that? Thank you.

Automatically tweeting new posts can be done pretty good by using RSS Feeds with www.twitterfeed.com

But for really high quality content you also want to repeat posts in twitter to reach your full audience (see http://boss.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/14/how-many-times-can-you-tweet-the-same-tweet/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0)

For wordpresse the extension http://wordpress.org/plugins/tweet-old-post/ does this pretty well.

If we want to make it as simple as possible and continue using twitterfeed the plugin must only generate a specific RSS-Feed with the desired posts, let´s say an RSS-Feed configurator.

Criteria/Inputs for this RSS-Feeds could be:
- feed name
- multiple select post types (q,a,c)
- multiple select certain categories
- multiple select certain tags
- select minimum/maximum number of votes
- select minimum/maximum number of views
- select time span when post was sent (from x days ago until y days ago)
- update frequency of RSS Feed: update Rss feeds with xxxx posts every yyyy hour. Don´t update RSS-Feed from xxx to yyy hours (at night e.g.)

What else would be important? Any ideas or suggestions?

I would be very interested to support the development of such a plugin for q2a.

Social sharing, wrong url

I have tried a few social sharing plugins, some for Q2A and some not e.g shareaholic.

Some times it works fine and shares the correct url for the questions but, sometimes it defaults to the main domain url.

Is anyone else experiencing this or does anyone know why or how to fix it?

Hello Q2A community,

Here is a cool plugin called simple social sharing. You may say, why another social sharing plugin. Well, this one is a bit different. It just has static links to posting your question on various social networking sites and especially the ones where you can promote your question in order to get answer.

It does not bloat your page by including the Javascript / iFrame heavy Facebook Like buttons, Twitter share buttons and the others. Simple, plain share links with relevant small images. There is also an admin panel where you can specify what to include and what social networks to skip.

Short URL Pro

This plugin provides short URL with Google URL Shortener API. Shortened URL is displayed in all page's widget. You can paste short URL to QA contents easily. And you can share question by short URL to SNS such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. Because short URL informations are cached to database, your site performance don't worsen.

I like the plugin, but we have had it out a few time. It likes to grab the wrong image and run with it. Right now it's got a liking for the Emote.

Maybe in your next version (please be another one) You can give the admin A way to set the image to be use.

How To Add Floating Share Widget?

I want to add floating share widget to the left side of the question page. I can get a code for the widget from add this website and the instruction says to copy and past the code into your page which is not really helpful. Can someone tell me in what file and what line I need to copy the code so the share buttons would appear on the left side of the each question page.

How comes? Is the iframe not working?

PS: Reading here at addthis that others have problems as well, so it might be that Facebook changed something in their code (i'm not surprised)...

Edit 1: I deactivated the facebook login plugin, but the error still persists. So this is not causing the problem.

Edit 2: Found a discussion about this on stackoverflow. We have to wait for Facebook.

Share Plugin problem. All the button works except Facebook like button.

It seems to revert back to unlike situation every time I press the like button. It shows 1 for a second and then go back to earlier position.

Another thing I thought useful is buttons for sharing content on social networks:

I think the benefit of having these buttons on each question page need not be elaborated on.

So, I made a plugin, and here it is:

There is an admin block to toggle which of the (currently four, above) buttons to show, and in which order, as well as an optional "suggestion" text to show when there are no answers:

I'd consider this "beta" code. It probably won't break your site, but it may still be buggy.

The buttons currently come after the question's response buttons, inside the same div. That's the best I could do, if you think you can do better, you can always edit the qa-share-layer.php and change the function based on Q2A's layer module API:
