Hi all,

We have been working on a social media posting plugin for Q2A and have managed to come up with this using GitHub copilot.

What it does:

Posts new questions to your social media accounts automatically
Supports Telegram, Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts
Multiple accounts per platform (e.g., different Telegram channels for different topics)
Category-based routing (send Physics questions to one channel, Chemistry to another)
AI-powered message generation using OpenAI
Auto-generates images for Instagram and video for YouTube Shorts
Daily "Question of the Day" and "Quote of the Day" features
Token expiry warnings so you don't miss when API keys need renewal

Why we built it:

Managing social media for a Q2A site is tedious. Copy-pasting links, writing captions, posting to multiple platforms... it adds up. This plugin handles all of that automatically when content is posted.

Some highlights:

Add unlimited accounts per platform
Pick which accounts receive which content types
Nested category support (3 levels) for granular routing
Developer API so other plugins can use the posting functionality
Clean admin UI with collapsible sections

Requirements:

Q2A 1.8+
PHP 7.4+
GD extension (for image generation)
ffmpeg (optional, for YouTube Shorts)

The plugin auto-detects custom tables (^exams, ^blogs, ^jobs) and only shows those content types if they exist.

I am looking to pay someone to develop a plugin that I think will be extremely useful. It would be based on the Auto Featured Image From Title Wordpress Plugin by Designs By Chris.

Social Network Profiles is a premium non-free plugin that allows users to customize their profiles by adding other social networks they use. For example, users could link to their Facebook or Twitter page.

Plugin features include:

Display a dynamic and modern web component that contains the contact information for the user
Allow users to update their information in an easy to use popup
Allow admins to customize what social networks will users be able to update in their profiles
Allow admins to configure how the web component will display each social network
New social networks can be added, provided the user has basic PHP and CSS knowledge

To further understand what the plugin does take a look at this profile page:

In the image above a user has added 4 social networks to their profile. The social networks are displayed in a dynamic way:

In order to configure them, the user just needs to edit their profile and, from there, they will access the following popup:

The user just needs to select the social network and then add their handle. Note that the admins can limit which social networks will be displayed from the admin section:

An additional feature to take into account is that the plugin is prepared to allow new social networks. This means with a minimal amount of PHP and CSS code, custom networks can be added. This is particularly useful for site owners that own multiple sites.

I recently moved my Q2A site and I get 404 error every time I share a link

I have installed the plugin where you can have a share button for google,twitter,fb,linkedin,and reddit..

The plugin works fine but when I click the link that was being shared, it displays a 404 error. .I have recently moved my q2a site to a new folder and I think that is the problem.

I have tried this plugin to my other site and it is working fine...

The error is:

Not Found

The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Automatically tweeting new posts can be done pretty good by using RSS Feeds with www.twitterfeed.com

But for really high quality content you also want to repeat posts in twitter to reach your full audience (see http://boss.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/14/how-many-times-can-you-tweet-the-same-tweet/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0)

For wordpresse the extension http://wordpress.org/plugins/tweet-old-post/ does this pretty well.

If we want to make it as simple as possible and continue using twitterfeed the plugin must only generate a specific RSS-Feed with the desired posts, let´s say an RSS-Feed configurator.

Criteria/Inputs for this RSS-Feeds could be:
- feed name
- multiple select post types (q,a,c)
- multiple select certain categories
- multiple select certain tags
- select minimum/maximum number of votes
- select minimum/maximum number of views
- select time span when post was sent (from x days ago until y days ago)
- update frequency of RSS Feed: update Rss feeds with xxxx posts every yyyy hour. Don´t update RSS-Feed from xxx to yyy hours (at night e.g.)

What else would be important? Any ideas or suggestions?

I would be very interested to support the development of such a plugin for q2a.

Social sharing, wrong url

I have tried a few social sharing plugins, some for Q2A and some not e.g shareaholic.

Some times it works fine and shares the correct url for the questions but, sometimes it defaults to the main domain url.

Is anyone else experiencing this or does anyone know why or how to fix it?

Hello Q2A community,

Here is a cool plugin called simple social sharing. You may say, why another social sharing plugin. Well, this one is a bit different. It just has static links to posting your question on various social networking sites and especially the ones where you can promote your question in order to get answer.

It does not bloat your page by including the Javascript / iFrame heavy Facebook Like buttons, Twitter share buttons and the others. Simple, plain share links with relevant small images. There is also an admin panel where you can specify what to include and what social networks to skip.

Allow comments on wall post
Add wall activity page and make all wall post appear there, So anyone posts on his or someone else's wall it appears in community activity a separate page from q2a activity page
Lastly give users more freedom, and make q2a more and more community friendly ,

I have seen the great plugin that allows to use open id. However, it does not support the big russian social network called Vkontakte (vk.com). Has anyone ever written a provider for it?

RA Social is a widget for question2answer. You can easily add any social site links to your site. Simply upload the plugin to qa-plugin folder and start adding your social links. You can also add custom icon, upload your icons in "images" folder of "ra-social" plugin folder.
