We have been working on a social media posting plugin for Q2A and have managed to come up with this using GitHub copilot.

What it does:

Posts new questions to your social media accounts automatically
Supports Telegram, Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts
Multiple accounts per platform (e.g., different Telegram channels for different topics)
Category-based routing (send Physics questions to one channel, Chemistry to another)
AI-powered message generation using OpenAI
Auto-generates images for Instagram and video for YouTube Shorts
Daily "Question of the Day" and "Quote of the Day" features
Token expiry warnings so you don't miss when API keys need renewal

Why we built it:

Managing social media for a Q2A site is tedious. Copy-pasting links, writing captions, posting to multiple platforms... it adds up. This plugin handles all of that automatically when content is posted.

Some highlights:

Add unlimited accounts per platform
Pick which accounts receive which content types
Nested category support (3 levels) for granular routing
Developer API so other plugins can use the posting functionality
Clean admin UI with collapsible sections

Requirements:

Q2A 1.8+
PHP 7.4+
GD extension (for image generation)
ffmpeg (optional, for YouTube Shorts)

The plugin auto-detects custom tables (^exams, ^blogs, ^jobs) and only shows those content types if they exist.

[New Plugin] Clear FB share cache

Hi,

this is my small contribution to this community. I made my first Q2A plugin that will do one simple job: clear FB share cache after new question is posted.

Description:

Just a simple plugin that will clear FB share cache automatically after new question is posted. By default you must clear FB share cache manualy here after new qustions is posted. If you don't do that and someone want to share question immediately, it will not pull right meta content. So, this plugin will prevent that situation by sending POST request to Facebook graph to scrape data.

I am not experienced PHP developer, I am front-end designer! So, my code is probably very bad, but it's working. Feel free to make it better, send suggestions :)

How To Set Up Open Graph Tags?

I am using AddThis image sharing widget on images on my site as you can see on the picture. When I share the image on Pinterest it always posts the right image, however when I share it on Facebook then it always pulls the image from the sidebar and not the image I was trying to share. AddThis said that I need to use Open Graph tags to fix the problem.

So I use this plugin by @AmiyaSahu. https://github.com/amiyasahu/q2a-social-share as it was supposed to create Open Graph tags, but with this, it only pulls the image from the first answer and won't pull images from the following answers.

So my question is: How do I set up Open Grap tags so that the Question title will be og:title for the answer and the answer text will be og:description and the answer image will be og:image. So if the question has 5 answers then og:title will remain the same as it will be the question title but each answer will have their own og:description and og:image.

I'm using a social Share Plugin how can I change the opengraph metas, so that it shows the following:

or is there any other possibility to make facebook show a preview of the shared question?

I have installed the plugin where you can have a share button for google,twitter,fb,linkedin,and reddit..

The plugin works fine but when I click the link that was being shared, it displays a 404 error. .I have recently moved my q2a site to a new folder and I think that is the problem.

I have tried this plugin to my other site and it is working fine...

The error is:

Not Found

The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have tried a few social sharing plugins, some for Q2A and some not e.g shareaholic.

Some times it works fine and shares the correct url for the questions but, sometimes it defaults to the main domain url.

Is anyone else experiencing this or does anyone know why or how to fix it?

I am not a coder but I have been forced to be one lately. My q2a site a christian website at http://www.biarusi.com is just coming up and am hoping it will soon hit the 1000 questions mark God willing.

You have realised everything now evovels around social media. That is why some of you have asking for a plugin that enables sharing of posts to facebook, twitter and other social media platforms. @NoahY came up with one but it had problem in sharing to facebook or liking a url.

Now I managed to come up with this code by accident and am now sharing it with you.

Features of this buttons include:

Button count enabled.
Stress free (you dont have to be a coder to do this!)
Clean codes which can be installed on your admin panel.
Include all the leading social medias: Facebook, Twitter, Google, Linked in and email

note: you can also substitute the texts like Facebook, twitter, google, with images to enable mobile users to use your plugin.

Step to showing share buttons on your site.

1. Download the q2a-widget-anywhere (it enables creation of widgets anywhere on your website) from github https://github.com/svivian/q2a-widget-anywhere

2. Install it on your site.

3. log onto your site and go to Admin>Layout> "Custom HTML at top of every page"

4. Post this code and save:

RA Social is a widget for question2answer. You can easily add any social site links to your site. Simply upload the plugin to qa-plugin folder and start adding your social links. You can also add custom icon, upload your icons in "images" folder of "ra-social" plugin folder.

Here is an alternative to Noah social sharing if you have problem with "Facebook button" like me,

1) Go to www.share42.com.

2) Choose the social icons you want to put on your website

3) follow the steps and download the share42 folder ( contains JS file + social icons images)

4) put that folder on your website in Questio2answer/qa-content

5)Download this plugin : Social share plugin

6) Put the plugin in Question2answer/qa-plugin folder

7) Go to admin-->layout and activite it.

You should have social share icons on question page on side panel
