Hi all,

My account was suspended due to a violation of sending spam emails to others.

My solution:
Admin >> Email >> Empty the "Sender address for messages from site:" >> Save Options

Is it enough?
Do you suggest a better or another way?

I do not want such a violation to happen again and get my account suspended.

Extra note: I do not need to send emails to others. If it is possible to not use this feature, I will prefer this option.

Hello Guys

Despite testing plugins like Honeypot and SRS (spam registration stopper), I have between 1000 to 2000 spam registrations!

Does recaptcha v3 stop this? Of course, it is not still supported in Q2A.

Has anyone tried recaptach v3?

i got i nice way to stop spammers, it's work for me, i allow only domain LTD, i can do that in Python Django, But i don't have any idea about PHP or question2answer.

How can i do this in question2answer, So the user in the register form well be validate if email LTD allowed, if not user can't register, And need invite from the admin.

Stop spam with registration field

I am getting a lot of spam registrations from spam bots. I have additional registration field for user location. This specific spam bot uses different user names, emails and IPs but same text for the registration field I have added. Is it possible to filter the user registration by this registration field? I just want to block registration if a specific text is used in the additional registration field. Any programmers help is highly appreciated.

in fact , I have been used this plugin for over than tow years and it was very excellent . it reduced more than 90% of spam users registration in my site . However, now this plugin became uncompatible with the new virsions of PHP . therfore , I would ask the developers of this site to consider the possibility of updating this plugin or creating a similar

[New Free Plugin] SRS - SPAM Registration Stopper

SPAM has been an issue for a long while. Posts submissions can be managed manually by means of the moderation tools and privileges provided by the Q2A platform. However, when it comes to preventing SPAM users registrations, the only tool available are captcha modules.

The SPAM Registration Stopper plugin adds another layer, on top of the captcha modules, that attempts to completely prevent a suspicious user registration. This is done by querying different SPAM checking services. For the time being, a few have been implemented but more can easily be added in the future. In fact, each of these services is implemented as something like "sub-plugins" so adding new services should be as simple as a drag & drop of a single file.

In addition to this, there is a third level that blocks duplicated emails. For the time being, only GMail is supported. It avoids duplicated accounts generated by adding dots to email addresses which fools Q2A's email matching.

The main plugin features are:

Prevents potential SPAM user registrations (users do not need to be removed as they are not even created)
SPAM users are tested against these well-known services:
Each service is implemented as an internal plugin on its own, allowing for easy extension
Rejects registrations with duplicated emails
Statistics for the last months are tracked for each service

Note it is impossible to stop SPAM registrations. The plugins aims at slowing them down.

The unknown malicious attacker managed to register a fake 6000+ IDs in the last eight days.
I have already implemented Google reCaptcha. Still, the attacker managed to register fake users bypassing reCaptcha.
I got a suspension notice from the hosting provider due to a sudden spike in outgoing emails in order to convey registration details.
Most email IDs are either fake or disposable.

Has anyone a solution to prevent spam registration attacks?

PS: The plugin named Q2A user manager helps me to delete users in bulk. It's not solution but helped lot in cleaning the junk users.

I use q2a 1.8 but recently spam bots have registered in my website. I have checked the reason and found while Recaptcha plugin is enabled, but it is not shown and anyone can register without any recaptha verification.

The website is running on Apache with root access.

Can you help me?

I had asked user registration spam and this was resolved, but there is still posting spam on site.
I did Google for this issue and checked reCAPTCHA section on Posting Admin but there is no option to stop such posting spam.

I read many questions where users were complaining about spam registrations. Here, I developed new plugin that should 100% prevent spam registrations.

Here how it works:

The plugin offers various methods to combat with spammers
ONLY ALLOWED EMAIL PROVIDERS: admin can set which email providers are allowed. Spammers tend to use non-common email providers. So, it will partly filter them out.
CHECK UPPERCASE CHARACTERS: admin can enable this to check if users input email comprises uppercase characters (spam emails tend to have uppercase lettes).
ADD NO-FILL INPUT: it is hidden no fill input inserted on registration page. Spam bots tend to fill all input elements in the form, so it will mislead them.
ADD CUSTOM ANTI-SPAM QUESTION: admin can add a set of anti-spam questions with its answers. On each register page load, the script will randomly select one of anti-spam questions and ask users to answer it. This will prevent majority of spam registration if number of questions are high.
CONFIRMATION LINK BEFORE REGISTRATION: when user attempt to register, it will generate 8 digits alfanumeric code and store all input data (handle, password, email, code) in to a temporary database table with current time (starttime) and time 24 hours later (endtime). And script will send email with confirmation link to the users email address. The user needs to click that email within 24 hours (before endttime, which is expire time). Once user clicks that link within 24 hours then REAL Q2A REGISTRATION (add row to users database table) will be processed and temporary row at database table will be immediately deleted. If user fails to click that link then after link will expire after 24 hours and the users row on temporary database table will be automatically removed. (It will need cronjob)
Admin can enable/disable each above methods.

I did google for the solution that solve user registration spam. I have found here a solution that suggest for stopforumspam API but won't use this as people are still complianing about this API. My favourite is Google Image recognizator. So, I want to install this on My Q2A version 1.8.0, and I have installed Donut version 2.0.

Could you please resolve this issue?

I found a post that says When reCAPTCHA v3 will be supported in Q2A? and I am unable to see any option for reCaptcha in my Admin Section.

My Q2A site got a lot of people who trying to post spammy, low-quality posts,... in order to earn point because my site have reward at end of the month. One of the most big problem I have is people mark (select) their answer as the best answer. So I went to Stackoverflow to learn how their solve these problem, and I found an very interesting point:

Now, there are some special rules around owner-accepted answers, to prevent gaming:

Wait 48 hours. You must wait 2 days from the time you originally asked your question before you can accept your own answer. This gives other users a chance to answer the question in good faith, and earn the accepted answer.

It's require a little core hacks, because the functions in core we are going to touch in is not allowed to override, so override it via plugin is not possible.

In \qa-include\pages\question-view.php file:

1) Locate line 448 - function qa_page_q_answer_view()

2) Scroll down, locate this part:
