The built-in function qa_when_to_html($timestamp, $fulldatedays) found in /qa-include/app/format.php seems to convert a date into an expression like "some minutes/days ago".

However, I don't seem to use it the correct way.

Let say $time is variable that will retrieve a date in the q2a database. Its raw format is like 2020-08-30 18:10:23.

How should I use qa_when_to_html function?

qa_when_to_html($time, @$options['fulldatedays']) only returns "Array".

qa_when_to_html($time, qa_opt('show_full_date_days')) also returns "Array"!

Incite users to register

I would like to have this functionality: hide answers after unregistered users are browsing the site for a certain time (for example 3 minutes), to incite them to register. Would a plugin exists for that or someone has thought about such a plugin or a hack? Thanks.

I have recently recieved reports from users that my site page load time has gone up! I have not installed any plugin in the past month but the loading time has increased recently.

I checked with my Web provider and they refered me into this report:

Hi,
is there any way to sort question by postid or by inverse date .
The two are similar to sort question by last published, last in viewed in the questions list.

I tried to modify this function in qa-theme-base.php

function a_list_items($a_items)

{

foreach ($a_items as $a_item)

$this->a_list_item($a_item);

}

by changint it to :

function a_list_items($a_items)

{

foreach (array_reverse($a_items) as $a_item)

$this->a_list_item($a_item);

}

Nothing happened.

latest questions sort order by postid

Why 'sort answers by time' doesn't work properly after a user answered an answered question?

I chose 'sort answers by time' as default when installing q2a, it works correctly under most context.

But recently my users found it doesn't work properly after they answered a question which was already answered by others. Their answer was at top of all the answers once they press the button 'submit answer' -- which should be at bottom of all the exsisting answer items as they expected. However, when they refresh the answer page, they found their answer was sorted correctly, below all of previous answer items.

The sorting rule is very confusing for my users submit answers with different opinions, could any expert help us for this issue?

I just thought by myself that q2a is actually not "going by the time".

Seeing the global http://question2answer.org/qa/questions?sort=votes (Highest voted questions) gives me the feeling that time is not a factor. That's why I would like to implement a highested voted questions of this month feature.

So how would you try to do it? (Before I do it myself ;) )

And what do you think about?

I have some users that proposed to close unanswered questions that are older than 3 months.

Actually, this idea I like, it keeps the "unanswered questions" list clean.

Let's say you want to close them, how would you do it?

pseudo code for qa_posts:

SET closedbyid = ID-of-close-NOTE

WHERE created < NOW()-3 MONTHS

AND ... there are no answer, i.e. Answer with parentid does not exist

Problem is that for each closed question we need a "post" with type=NOTE and parentid=Q and content='reason'

Anyone?
