1.8.5 seems slower loading compared with 1.7.1

Unfortunately I did not get screenshot of 1.7.1 now that completely migrated to 1.8.5

The loading time for 1.8.5 is 3.6sec whereas for the exact same contents for 1.7.1 was only around 2.3sec!

I understand lots of improvement has been recently done on the code however this is what I observed in practice. I also activated the caching feature and the timing you see is the best of it.

Any tips on this? Thank you

Hi everyone, sorry I have not been around much for the past year. Had a huge work project in the second half of last year that took up all my work time, and it's taken a while to get back into development.

But today I've released Q2A 1.8.4! This release contains an important security fix so I'd suggest every update asap. The specific change is here if you need a quick fix - it simply prevents the embed or object HTML tags being used, as they are considered a security risk nowadays.

Having trouble with database installing Q2A 1.8

When running http://myhost/q2a/index.php?qa=installI am getting the error:

Database query error 1146
Table 'q2a.qa_options' doesn't exist
SELECT title, content FROM qa_options

Here is what I have setup in qa-config.php

Meta Tags In Body Your page has meta tags in the body instead of the head. This may be because your HTML was malformed and they fell lower in the parse tree.

Debugger can't get Title, desc, image... or anything.

I can send page source code (for 1.8.1 and 1.8.2) to Q2A admin to inspect.

Q2A-Ultimate-SEO plugin doesn't work in 1.8 Q2A version. Is there any other plugin? I just want some basics: SEO title, meta description, OG: tags (and other social meta tags), featured image... maybe schema org? Thanks.

Hi everyone, I've finally got around to releasing v1.8.1. This fixes a bunch of issues, including Q2A mistakenly being detected as malware. View the full changelog and download here.

This is my first released managed solely by myself, without needing to wait for Gideon to update the website. So do let me know if I've missed anything off the website :)

Thanks to pupi1985, ProThoughts and jairlopez for contributing to this release, and to everyone who reported issues and helped test.

On another note, I set up HTTPS on the Q2A site a while back. Haven't had any problems thus far, but I will be shortly setting up redirects to the HTTPS version so that everyone is always on this version. I'd suggest updating bookmarks if you have them. Please let me know if you encounter any issues with the HTTPS!

I am trying to upgrade form 1.7.0 to last version 1.8.0 and I get the following error:

I am very upset due to so many bot registration per day.
ReCaptcha plugin do not stop bot registration.
All other stop spam plugin also do not stop spam

How can I get rid of spam registration.

Answer Length Problem in WYSIWYG editor for Unicode language like Bangla in q2a 1.8.0

Pretty wired problem it is! I am using Bangla language in one of my ask community. I am using version 1.8.0. I was trying to answer a question which was little long in WYSIWYG editor. But when I try to submit it, It shows me a message "12000 char limit". I research on web ans try to increase the size of the varchar (12000) from database and also change QA_DB_MAX_CONTENT_LENGTH in maxima.php. It does not work. Then I go back and change it into default one.

Next, I change the WYSIWYG editor to Basic editor. Now, my long question was excepted and there is no problem with it.

In my opinion the 1.8.0 version of WYSIWYG editor is too buggy. I have used 1.7.4 and there was no problem like that.

So, do you have any Idea how to solve the problem.

Also, I think 1.8.0 have some speed issue. It was fast on 1.7.4. Please let me know.

Hi, I have changed the content varchar(50000) from varchar(12000) and also change QA_DB_MAX_CONTENT_LENGTH in maxima.php . But not working. Please let me know about more settings or some thing.

As mentioned in previous question, when I click on the Answer button, I get the duplicate_content error. but the answer is saved

We have tried Sama55's solution with deactivating all plugins and did (grep) search with "filter_answer", but it didn't work.

We don't know if this is something related to plugin or server config? is there any solution to figure out if there is something related to server or Q2A plugins ? and how to fix it

Database upgrade error (Table 'qa_messages' was not locked with LOCK TABLES) when upgrading from 1.6.3 to 1.8.0

On trying to upgrade my website from 1.6.3 to 1.8.0, I got the following error.

Database query error 1100
Table 'qa_messages' was not locked with LOCK TABLES

ALTER TABLE qa_messages ADD COLUMN tohidden TINYINT(1) UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT 0 AFTER fromhidden

I ignored the error and reloaded the page. The upgrade continued with few more similar errors around locks and finally got stuck at qa_iplimits. At this point, even after refreshing the page multiple times, I kept getting the same error.

The version of mysql that I am using is around 4 years old.

Can someone please help in resolving this error?
