Hi,

I just set up 1.7 version in my website. I'm on php 5.3 but I do have that message :

Warning: ob_start() [ref.outcontrol]: output handler 'ob_gzhandler' conflicts with 'zlib output compression' in /home/u924205102/public_html/qa-include/qa-index.php on line 170

As explained in that forum I turn off html compilation in the config file but I stil have that message

In IIS 7.5 I get the following error (Warning and notice):

Warning: ob_start(): output handler 'ob_gzhandler' conflicts with 'zlib output compression'

What can I do?

Last night I updated to 1.5.1, for some reason I keep getting this error message at the top of the page:

Warning: ob_start() [ref.outcontrol]: output handler 'ob_gzhandler' conflicts with 'zlib output compression' in /home/*****/public_html/qa-include/qa-index.php on line 158

So I went to qa-index.php and disabled the call for ob_gzhandler by commenting it out.

That did remove the message, but now I can't login to the admin panel (everything else works fine though). Unfortunately I have no php.ini to disable zlib. Is there any other way to disable ob_gzhandler?

P.S.
I also tried defining QA_HTML_COMPRESSION to false but that gave me a blank page everywhere.

Today I changed the php.ini of my server to send compressed data:

zlib.output_compression = On
zlib.output_compression_level = 4

Now I have seen that the error.log of my server is full of the php warning above.

To prevent these errors, in qa-config.php you have to change line 149 to:

define('QA_HTML_COMPRESSION', false);

Question to the developers:

What is better for gzip: Using QA_HTML_COMPRESSION (php) or zlib ( extension = "zip.so" of Apache)?
