This is a loaded question and the obvious answer is that content/topic has a huge role to play in bounce rate.
With that understanding, I still feel it be great to know from community what is the average boune rate of their site(s) runin Q2A. My site is currently having unusually high bounce rate of 70.
Following changes did reduce the rate from 78 to 70
- Made Jquery load only when user is logged in or when he poses a question increasing website speed
- Changed sidebar from right to left using CSS (I am using Scott's template as base theme on which have made some modifictions)
Any such learnings will be of great help as I try to reduce bounce rate of my site.
