Is there a way to filter out / follow tags and categories?

Is there a way to filter out or follow certain tags or categories, for example by setting some preferences in the user profile, to adapt the view of the question lists to what I am (ignore what I am not) interested in?

If it is not available yet, I'd like to propose it as a feature request.

You can follow tags and categories (and users and questions)  from the star on the top right. By the way, the "nofollow" tag is not appropriate
