There is nothing wrong with using inline styles. We use it for this element to ensure it appears correctly and also the spinner image is pre-loaded.

BTW we did make a recent change to avoid some other tool incorrectly flagging it as malware (due to the negative offset). But the new solution still uses inline styles.
