About: Thousands of years before modern medicine provided scientific proof for the mind-body link, the sages of India developed Ayurveda, which has been among the world's most sophisticated and powerful mind-body health programs.
what is ayurveda?
Over a mere system of treating illness, Ayurveda
is essentially a science of life. It delivers a body of knowledge designed to help people remain healthy and lively when realizing their full human potential.
Ayurveda is an integrative therapy and has two main guiding principles. The first is that the brain and the body are inextricably connected. The second is that nothing has more energy to heal and change the body than the mind.
Freedom from illness is determined by expanding our own awareness, bringing it into balance, and then extending that balance to the body. This practice isn't as complex as it may seem. Since the body and mind are inseparable, the body is balanced through the practice of meditation.
In the state of relaxed awareness generated through Meditation, your pulse and breath slow, your body decreases the production of stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol, and you increase the production of neurotransmitters that improve health, including serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins.
Meditation is just one of the tools Ayurvedic physicians use for balancing the mind and body. Ayurveda also offers many other practices for healing most ailments in a holistic way.
