Users on my website use many mathematic expressions, so writing answers takes quite much time. And it is very annoying to lose everything you wrote by accidentely pressing backspace button when the focus is not in the text field.

That's why I wonder, is this problem solved? For me any sensible solution will do. For example, autosave feature or maybe just a conformation message before leaveing the current page... I am using CKEditor 4.

Yes there is a perfect solution. Installing this plugin will help you. It will enable confirm dialogues (Like are you sure to exit) when leaving text in a textarea.

not a perfect solution, but you might recommend to your users
installation of the "Textarea Cache" Firefox add-on:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?&q=textarea+cache

(I don't know whether a similar add-on exists for Chromium or other browsers)

thanks for your answer! i think, it's too much to ask users to install some plugin... almost nobody will do it

Thanks! It is exactly what I am looking for, but it seems that the plugin does not work with CKEditor 4...

It only works with Markup editor.
