We’re happy to share q2a Bonus Plus, a plugin that lets admins and trusted users reward (or deduct) points for members, with a clear reason and a full history.
The plugin was originally created by Yhlas Sovbetov. He is currently not active, and since we’ve made significant changes to it for our own community, we decided to release it publicly for everyone to use. Thank you, Yhlas, for the original work!
What it does
- Give bonus points from the profile page. Type a plain number like 100, choose a reason, and you’re done.
- Reasons you control. No fixed list: add, rename, disable or reuse reasons from the admin page.
- Add or deduct automatically. Each reason has a default direction, for example “Birthday gift” adds points and “Bad behaviour” deducts. You can still switch it for a single bonus.
- “Other” reasons without duplicates. Typing a new reason saves it once and offers it next time.
- Responsive modal with dark mode. Works on phones and desktops, and follows the device’s light or dark setting.
- Bonus history. Totals for added, deducted and net points, a table of every bonus with date, amount and reason, and a per-reason breakdown. Givers also see who gave each bonus.
- Members see their own bonus total and history on their profile.
- Notifications (optional). If you use the FNS notification plugin, members are notified when they receive or lose points. The giver’s name is not shown to them.
- Safe and upgrade-friendly. The giver is always the logged-in user, requests are checked on the server, and the database migration works on fresh installs and on existing ones.
Requirements: Question2Answer with MySQL/MariaDB, and a theme with the standard profile form (we tested on Polaris). Please back up your database before the first upgrade.
Installation: copy the folder into qa-plugin/, run the database upgrade from the admin area, then set your reasons in Admin → Plugins → Bonus Plus. The README has full details, including translation keys and troubleshooting.
