Is there a way of fixing it by using the new templete?

You were correct about the defaulf templete.  How do I make the new one work?
related to an answer for: Add ons not showing in side bar, why?

Download the new template from

and install it in your server hosting. Now you will be able to change your "site theme" under the Admin panel -> General Tab.
